The bench works a little differently in Euro 2020 Fantasy and below, I will explain why.
It is the same in the fact that the set up for your Euros 2020 fantasy team is 11 starting players and 4 bench players. 1 player being the other goal keeper and the other positions depending on your formation. For example, if your starting players formation is 3-4-3, then you will have 2 defenders and 1 midfielder on the bench. This is because for your team, you have to choose 2 goalkeepers, 5 defenders, 5 midfielders and 3 forwards.
These 4 players can still automatically be substituted on, but you can now also make manual substitutions as the match day progresses.
Can you make substitutions during a match day?
You can make subs during a matchday.
After every day in a matchday, you get a substitution window which starts when the last game of the day ends and finished when the first match of the next day kicks off. During this time, you can make your subs.
You can substitute anyone in who hasn’t played yet and you can use each sub once, so a max of 4 subs per match day.
Once you’ve subbed a player out, you can’t sub them back in.
You can’t substitute a player in who has already played.
Best way to use subs in Euro 2020 Fantasy
With these rules, the best way to use subs in Euro 2020 fantasy is to put the players that play the latest in the match day on the bench. This way, you can decide whether or not you want to use them, after your starting players have already played.
For example, in Matchday 1, Portugal played on the last day. So, even if you had Ronaldo in your team, you should put him on the bench as you can substitute him in on the day he plays. In Matchday 1, Harry Kane scored only 2 points, so he would have been a good candidate to substitute out for Ronaldo, if you had them both. However, in normal FPL rules, you would most likely start both of them and have to take Harry Kane’s 2 points.
This also means you should use players that will get game time on your bench. You will be more likely to use your bench in Euro 2020 fantasy than FPL, so I recommend choosing players that will play instead of cheap players you will never use.
Automatic Subs
Auto subs works the same as FPL. If one of your players doesn’t play, they will get subbed out automatically for someone on the bench who has played. For more information on the FPL bench rules, click here.
