We’ve now flown through the group stages and the round of 16 is here. The first match between Wales and Denmark kicks off at 17:00 on 26 June, which is just around the corner so we have to sort our fantasy squad out quickly.
What happens now
As mentioned, we have until 26 June at 17:00 (UK time) to make our transfers to get our team ready for RO16.
We have a free wildcard this week, so no need to use your chip. Through the next rounds we then get:
- Before quarter finals – 3 transfers
- Before semi finals – 5 transfers
- Before final – 5 transfers
This information can help us plan our team. Naturally, we’d be picking players from good teams anyway, but now we know we can only make 3 transfers before the quarter finals (unless you use your wildcard chip), we have to strategize to make sure we choose players from teams who are likely to go through.
At this stage of the tournament, it can be quite tricky as there are some games that are tough to call such as England vs Germany and Portugal vs Belgium, for example. However, I will run down a method below on the fixtures to target to make sure you get players that are likely to return some points and get through to the quarter finals.
Fixtures to target for the round of 16
No one can choose who they play in a tournament competition such as the Euros, so as normal, some teams have come off better than others. Below is a run down of some of the best fixtures to target where players have a good change of returning points.
- Italy vs Austria
- Netherlands vs Czech Republic
- France vs Switzerland
- Croatia vs Spain
Best Players to target for Euro 2020 Fantasy round of 16
Below is now a list of players that are good targets for the round of 16. Most are from the fixtures listed above, but I’ve also included some other players that have stood out throughout the tournament.
- Donnarumma (Italy)
- Spinazzola (Italy)
- Berrardi (Italy)
- Locatelli (Italy)
- Immobile (Italy)
- Insigne (Italy)
- Wijnaldum (The Netherlands)
- Dumfries (The Netherlands)
- Depay (The Netherlands)
- Van Aanholt (The Netherlands)
- Stekelenburg (The Netherlands)
- Benzema (France)
- Varane (France)
- Pogba (France)
- Lloris (France)
- Laporte (Spain)
- Alba (Spain)
- P.Torres (Spain)
- Lukaku (Belgium)
- De Bruyne (Belgium)
- Ronaldo (Portugal)
- Havertz (Germany)
- Yarmalenko (Ukraine)
- Bale (Wales)
Picking from this selection should ensure you have enough players that will go through to the next round so 3 transfers should be enough. Remeber, you can now have 4 players from a particular team instead of 3.
