FPL bonus points play a significant role in a player’s weekly score, ranging from 1 to 3. So this can potentially match the points earned from an assist. Understanding how these points are awarded is crucial for strategic decision-making, especially when facing dilemmas in transfers or captain selections.

What are FPL Bonus Points?

FPL Bonus points are extra points awarded to players based on their in-game actions. The Bonus Point System (BPS) assigns points for various player actions, with the top three players in BPS receiving 3, 2, and 1 bonus points, respectively.

Players accumulate BPS through actions like clearances, key passes, and creating chances. Each action carries a specific BPS value, and the 3 players with the highest total at the end of the match earn bonus points.

How Many Bonus Points Do You Get For Man Of The Match?

None. Despite popular belief, no bonus points or FPL points are awarded for getting man of the match. The full list of what bonus points are awarded for is in the table below.

What do you get bonus points for in FPL?

Players earn BPS for positive actions and can lose points for negative actions. Examples include a 90%+ pass completion (6 points), scoring a match-winning goal (3 points), an assist (9 points), own goal (-6), red card (-9), and missing a big chance (-3). Certain actions are position-based, like a penalty save (15 points for goalkeepers). You can view the full list of actions here and below.

Tiebreaker Rules

If two players are on the same amount of bps points at the end of a match, they both will receive the same amount of bonus points. For example, if they both are joint highest, they will both receive 3 bonus points, then 2nd place will receive 1 bonus point.

How To Check FPL Bonus Points During The Match

To track bonus points live, log into the FPL app or website, navigate to ‘points,’ select a player in the match, click on the match in the results tab, choose ‘view match,’ and scroll to the bottom to find the ‘bonus points system’ table.

When Are FPL Bonus Points Added?

FPL bonus points are added around 2-4 hours after the last game of that day has been played. While bonus points are live during the matches, they are officially added to your score after all games for the day are completed and confirmed by FPL admins. This typically occurs 2-4 hours after the last game, allowing for accurate point verification.

Using Bonus Points in Team Planning

When selecting players, consider potential FPL bonus points, especially for positions like goalkeepers. Teams that face more shots and score fewer goals often provide goalkeepers with more opportunities to earn bonus points through saves and clean sheets.
